San Francisco & London – January 15 – Paravision, a leader in trusted Identity AI, is proud to announce its successful delivery of its advanced Identity AI technology in the UK Home Office’s fully operational Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) scheme as part of the solution from Entrust, the global leader in identity-centric security solutions.
The ETA is a digital permission required for eligible visitors traveling to the UK who do not currently need a visa for short stays and who do not already hold UK immigration status. Over 19.6 million ETAs have been granted since the introduction of the scheme in October 2023. Delivered in partnership with Paravision, the ETA system is designed to enhance border security while streamlining the travel experience.
Travelers can apply via the UK ETA app or GOV.UK, using their smartphone to scan their passport chip and take a facial biometric image. The traveler’s identity is then verified against the passport data, supported by Paravision Face Recognition technology, with results of the application typically issued within three working days, often sooner. Enhanced biometric algorithms from Paravision have reduced the need for manual verification by over 50%, significantly increasing operational efficiency.
The UK Home Office ETA solution exemplifies how thoughtful technology collaborations can power next-generation travel and border programs. We are proud to play a role in this groundbreaking initiative, ensuring secure and seamless border crossing experiences for visitors to the UK— all while enhancing efficiency and helping reduce the total cost of ownership through fewer errors and faster decisions.
