Ranganath joins the Vision AI innovator after 20+ years of developing enterprise-scale digital identification solutions at NEC

SAN FRANCISCO — May 3, 2022 Paravision, the U.S.-based leader in mission-critical Vision AI, today announced the appointment of Kris Ranganath to the new role of Senior Vice President of Innovation, where he will lead Paravision’s research and development for new product exploration as the company looks beyond person-centric computer vision products.

Ranganath is a veteran of the biometrics and identity industry, with a primary focus on digital identity, digital platforms, and public safety. Prior to Paravision, he served as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the NEC Corporation of America (NEC), where he led solution development practices in NEC’s Advanced Recognition Systems and the business unit for the NEC Digital Platform, where he oversaw multimodal biometrics and digital identity solutions.

Kris is one of the most well-respected technology executives in the biometrics sector, having already led the development of one the largest identity platforms in the world. Over the last 20 years, he’s had a front-row seat at some of the most complex deployments in biometrics. Peerless in his expertise, we couldn’t have asked for a better leader to join our ranks as we continue to develop world-class Vision AI solutions. His joining is a huge validation of our progress and potential at Paravision.
Doug Aley, Paravision CEO

Yesterday, Paravision announced it had delivered the top-ranked performance among face recognition providers selected to participate in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Biometric Technology Rally, with a 100% True Identification Rate (0% error rate) on a range of test subject demographics on images captured by three different acquisition devices. In January, Paravision ranked first overall in NIST’s rigorous 1:N Face Recognition Vendor Test (FRVT), establishing the first US company to top the benchmark since 2019.

For a company of Paravision’s size to outperform some of the largest biometric and computer vision companies in the world speaks volumes about the quality of the team. Paravision has achieved outstanding things in a few short years, and I look forward to helping it develop its next generation of innovative Vision AI products.
